Privacy policy.

This policy explains what Arcform collects, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. Arcform is still early, so we've kept it short and specific to what the app actually does today.

01

Who we are

Arcform is an AI training app that checks your lifting form with your phone's camera. It's based in California, and you can reach us at support@arcform.fit.

Arcform is an AI powered training app that analyzes your lifting form with your phone's camera. Arcform is based in California, USA. Questions or requests: support@arcform.fit.

02

What we collect

Your account, training profile, workouts, form recordings and what Arcform measures in them, plus your friends and Crew Quest progress. We don't collect your location, contacts or advertising identifier.
  • Account details. Your name, email address and account type (athlete or trainer). Sign in is handled by Clerk, so we never see or store your password. We also keep the app settings you choose, like your color theme.
  • Training profile. Your goal, experience level, activity level, training days and equipment. Optionally your age, sex, height and weight, which we use to build your plan.
  • Workouts. Your plan and splits, and the sets you log: exercise, reps, weight, effort (RPE) and the date. We don't keep the session notes you write in a workout.
  • Form recordings. Videos you record or upload in Arcform, the body position data (pose points) Arcform extracts from them, the scores, rep counts and cues it produces, any notes you add, and any corrections you make (a different exercise, a score that looks wrong, or a rep that wasn't a rep).
  • Form coaching and safety answers. Your form check history and, if you answer them, pain check answers (where it hurts, how much, and warning signs) and sets you stop for pain. Arcform uses these to tell you when to lighten the load or stop. Your answer about a past knee injury stays on your phone and is never sent to us.
  • Nutrition. Meals and food entries, if you log them.
  • AI coach. Your weekly check ins (the coach's summary, the plan changes it proposed and which ones you applied or skipped) and a count of coach requests with their size and estimated cost, which we use for fair use limits. We don't store your chat messages or the coach's replies on our servers; they stay on your phone, and so do the preferences the coach remembers about you. The one exception: if you rate a reply with a thumbs up or down, we keep that reply, the question you asked and your rating (and the reason, if you pick one) to make the coach better.
  • Friends. Your friend code, your friends list, goals you create or join, and your choices about what friends can see.
  • Crew Quest. For every scored set: the lift, reps, clean reps, XP and whether the set stopped itself. Your level, chests, the cosmetics you find and what your skeleton wears. The boss raids, duels and arcade games (Rep Runner, Squat Invaders) you start or join, with the form score and timing of each rep you film for them and your game scores, and your time zone offset, to work out your local day. These records never hold video or pose data; the set itself is saved like any recording.
  • Trainer link. If you link to a trainer with a code, that connection.
  • Basic server logs. Like most online services, our servers keep short technical logs of requests (such as the time, the type of request and whether it worked) to keep the service running.

We don't collect your location, contacts or advertising identifier, and Arcform has no ads or third party analytics or tracking tools.

03

What happens on your phone

Pose tracking and scoring run on your phone, and nothing from the camera is saved until you record. Hey Arc listening and your reminders stay on the phone too.
  • Form analysis runs on your phone. Pose tracking and scoring happen on the device; we don't send video to an AI service to analyze it.
  • Camera and microphone. They're on while the camera screen is open, so Arcform can draw your skeleton and see a raised hand that starts or stops a set. Frames are read on your phone and nothing is saved until you record; the microphone adds sound to the clip. The microphone is also used while the mic button is on, to log a set by voice or talk to the coach (see "Voice" below).
  • Hey Arc. If you turn it on, your phone listens for "Hey Arc" while Arcform is open, using Apple's speech recognition on your phone. Nothing is sent until you start talking to the coach.
  • Reminders. Rest timer alerts and training reminders are scheduled on your phone. We don't send push notifications.
  • Photos. Arcform only sees the clips you choose to upload. It saves a clip or your fighter card (your name, level and stats) to your library, or shares it, only if you ask.
04

How we use your information

To run the app, back up your sets, power the coach and the social features, improve form tracking and keep Arcform working. We never sell your information or use it for advertising.
  • To run the app: your account, plan, workout log, form reports and recordings.
  • To back up your recordings and form history to your account, so they come back when you sign in again or switch phones.
  • To power social features you choose to use: leaderboards, goals, boss raids, duels, arcade high scores, chests and head to head comparisons with friends.
  • To generate training plans and AI coaching: chat answers, the note between sets, the note after a workout and the weekly check in (see "What the AI coach sends to OpenAI" below).
  • To improve form tracking: when you tell Arcform a set was a different exercise, a score looks wrong or a rep wasn't a rep, we may use that recording's pose data and your correction to test and tune detection.
  • To keep Arcform secure and fix problems.

We don't sell your personal information or share it for advertising, and we don't use it to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

05

Who can see your information

Friends see your fighter and the stats you choose to share, and your crew sees what you do in raids and duels together. A trainer you link, and the services that run Arcform for us, see only what they need.
  • Friends you add. They always see your name, your fighter's level, class (from the lifts you've trained lately) and skeleton look, so they can pick who to duel, and your arcade high scores for the week, with the form score and timing of each rep in your best runs (they race it as a ghost or play beside it). They also see the stats you allow in What friends see: workouts (with active days, sets, minutes and streak) and Form Rating, both shared until you turn them off, and volume change, which stays hidden until you turn it on. Everyone in a goal you join sees your progress in it. Friends never see your videos, notes, pain answers or body measurements.
  • Your crew in raids and duels. Everyone in a boss raid you join sees your name and, for each set that hit the boss, the lift, reps, damage and time, and whether you've trained since its last stomp. Everyone in a duel you join sees your name, level, fighter class and skeleton look, and the form score and timing of each rep in the set you film for it.
  • A trainer you link. They see your name and email, and can view and adjust your training plan and progress.
  • Service providers that help us run Arcform, only for that purpose:
    • Clerk: sign in and account security.
    • Railway: hosting for our servers, database, recording storage and voice cache (United States).
    • OpenAI: training plans, AI coaching and voice, from the text described in "What the AI coach sends to OpenAI". We never send videos, photos, pose data, your name or your email.
    • Open Food Facts and the USDA FoodData Central database: food search. Only the search words or barcode are sent, not who you are.
    • Google Workspace: our email, and the list of beta signups from arcform.fit (see "Beta signups on arcform.fit").
  • Apple. If you send feedback or crash reports through TestFlight, Apple shares them with us.
  • The law. If we're legally required to, or to protect someone's safety.

What the AI coach sends to OpenAI

When you use the coach, Arcform sends OpenAI a short text summary of your training, never your videos, photos or pose data. Voice clips you record are turned into text and never stored.

When you ask the coach a question, open a coach note between sets, finish a workout, or get your weekly check in, Arcform sends a short text summary of your training to OpenAI so it can write the coaching. Weight increases come from Arcform's own rules. The coach can also work out weights from your own numbers (like converting units or a percentage of your max), and Arcform checks those against what you've lifted and checks every reply for safety before you see it. What's sent:

  • Your training goal, experience level, activity level, equipment, training days and units.
  • Your current plan and week (workouts, exercises, sets, reps, target weights and effort).
  • Your last five form reports (exercise, score, top faults, main fix, safety status and how much your reps slowed down), and for each lift a summary of every form check: first, latest and best score, repeated faults and how many were flagged.
  • Recent logged sets: exercise, weight, reps and effort (RPE).
  • Pain reports from the last 14 days: where it hurt and how much (0 to 10) only.
  • Active safety flags from your form checks.
  • Last week's check in, and your message to the coach (with the last few messages of that chat).
  • When you ask for a plan change in your own words ("I only have 30 minutes today"), what you typed or said and your plan. The coach only picks the kind of change; Arcform works out the new sets and weights itself and you approve every change.
  • When you ask the coach to build a workout: what you asked, the day of the week, your saved equipment, your usual session length, and up to 10 preferences the coach remembers about you (kept on your phone).
  • When you ask the coach to set up a goal with friends: your friends' names, so it knows who you mean. Nothing else about them is sent.
  • When you finish a workout: that workout as planned and the sets you logged (exercise, reps, weight and RPE), so the coach can write your note for the next session.

Voice

If you log a set by voice or talk to the coach, Arcform records only while the microphone button is on, and sends that short clip (up to 30 seconds) to OpenAI to turn it into text. The clip is never stored by Arcform, on your phone or our servers. The text is used like a typed message: for a logged set it fills in your weight, reps and RPE (Arcform reads it on your phone first and only asks OpenAI when it can't), and for the coach it's your question. When spoken replies are on, the coach's answer (only the text the coach just wrote, nothing about you beyond it) is sent to OpenAI to turn it into speech, and the audio is streamed back to your phone and never stored. You can turn spoken replies off with the speaker button in the coach; if the coach's voice isn't available, your phone's built in voice reads the answer instead. Arcform's own spoken lines (rep counts, cues, the countdown, the rest timer, set summaries and its built in replies) are also voiced by OpenAI from the text of the line only. So they play faster next time, each line's audio is kept on our server and on your phone, with nothing that links it to you. We also keep a count and length of voice clips and spoken replies for fair use limits.

Never sent: videos, photos, pose points, your name, email, age, sex, height, body weight or notes. Friends' names are sent only for a goal you ask the coach to set up. OpenAI doesn't use data sent through its API to train its models, and keeps it for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring (see OpenAI's data controls). Without a network connection, or when the coach is busy, Arcform shows its own rule based coaching instead and nothing is sent.

Beta signups on arcform.fit

If you join the beta on arcform.fit, we keep your name and email in a Google Sheet and send you one email to confirm. We use them only to invite you to the beta, and we'll remove them whenever you ask.

When you join the beta on arcform.fit, the form sends your first name, last name and email to a Google Apps Script that runs in Arcform's Google Workspace account. It adds them, with the date, to a Google Sheet that only Arcform can open, and sends you one email from beta@arcform.fit to confirm. If that doesn't work, the form opens your email app with a message to us holding the same details instead.

We use your name and email only to invite you to the beta and to answer you. We don't use them for advertising or share them with anyone else. Reply to any of our emails, or email support@arcform.fit, and we'll take you off the list.

08

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active. Delete a recording or your whole account in the app and it's removed from our servers and your phone.

We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete any recording in the app, which removes it from your phone and our servers; what that set earned in Crew Quest (XP, chests, raid damage) stays until you delete your account. You can delete your account at any time under Profile, Delete account: that immediately deletes your profile, training data, recordings, coach check ins, ratings and usage records, friends, goals, Crew Quest progress (XP, chests, cosmetics, your look, raids, duels and arcade scores) and login from our servers and your phone. If you ask us by email instead, we'll do it within 30 days. We only keep something if the law requires it.

09

Security

Your data travels over encrypted connections and is only available to your account and the people you choose to share with. Arcform is still early, so keep anything sensitive out of notes.

Data travels to and from Arcform over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and your data is only available to your signed in account and the people you choose to share with. No system is perfectly secure, and Arcform is still early, so please don't put anything in notes you wouldn't want stored.

10

Your choices and rights

You decide what friends see and which phone permissions Arcform has. Email us to get a copy of your data, correct it or delete it, and we'll respond within 30 days.
  • Change what friends can see in Crew > Friends > What friends see. Remove friends or leave goals at any time, and leave a duel until you've filmed for it.
  • Turn off camera, microphone or photo access in iOS Settings, and Hey Arc in your Arcform profile.
  • Email support@arcform.fit to get a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account. We'll respond within 30 days.
  • If you live in California or another place with privacy laws (such as the EU or UK), you have rights to access, correct, delete and port your data, and we won't treat you differently for using them. Contact us at the address above.
11

Health information

Arcform gives form and training feedback, not medical advice. Pain answers only adjust your training and are never shared with friends or used for advertising.
